Which way does the path not lead

Non-functional solutions, inexperienced manufacturers, and dishonest vendors

What you will find here

  • Unsuitable commercially available cheeses
Products that are so poor quality that they prevent a bumblebee colony from reaching a successful finale

  • Dangerous antiparasitic preparations
Preparations often sold in beekeeping as purely organic and safe. However, veterinary inspections have shown the exact opposite.

  • Sale of non-native hybrids for agricultural purposes
Although there should be clear rules, there are still those who circumvent them for profit and offer hybrids for agricultural purposes (greenhouses) as an ideal solution for bumblebee breeders and small-scale gardeners. We will explain why such sales and subsequent breeding are so dangerous for the bumblebees in our nature.

  • Unsuitable trapping kit
A number of manufacturers are minimising quality to increase profit, even at the expense of endangering bumblebees when they are establishing themselves in a nest box. What to look out for: basic parameters for safe transfer aids.

  • Biopesticide Bacillus thuringiensis: risk or benefit
The effort to find simple solutions instead of quality protection and nest checks might seem tempting, but everything has its 'buts'.

 A few words in introduction

Over the years of bumblebee rearing and supporting beginners, we have unfortunately encountered various suppliers and manufacturers of bumblebee equipment.

Some have good intentions and we won't write about those here. Some have no personal experience and they produce/sell something that doesn't work, or is even harmful (e.g. boxes with a hole as a prank) – these people are generally trying, but don't know how.
Some, however, are not honest and are only interested in profit..Very We often encounter a combination of both groups ... bumblebees are simply just business for many people.

We try to treat everyone the same., to point out their shortcomings and, if they are interested, help them improve their creations so that they serve a purpose. We do all of this selflessly, without demanding any fee. The only thing we ask of them is to credit us as authors or as the source of the idea. If they are not interested, that's fine. However, if you are still they will sell substandard and non-functional products, we will write about them Here and on FB bumblebees PLUS.
We will re-edit the text once they change their products.

How bumblebees and you can help each other

Your Help is incredibly important, effective and yet so easyand we'll describe her right away.

We won't name specific companies here, let's call it the „Vendor“. We would be grateful if, should something not work as it should and as you have paid for, that give the Seller feedbackYou just need to point out to him that he's selling problematic items..Client engagement is important. Thanks to it, the Seller can improve their products.

The Honest Seller is interested in improvement but needs to hear your voice. If we do it, the Seller will downplay it. One well-known manufacturer uses their favourite phrase: „The humblebee PLUS is never satisfied.“ …

But as you can see from our work, we selflessly defend your interests and the interests of bumblebees.

Don't be „blamboozled“ by another phrase you'll probably hear from a salesperson: „You are the first person to complain. I have been selling bumblebee products for ten years, including abroad, and no one has complained yet.“.Lies – it’s just a well-known tactic that some sellers use to reject complaints, and they even write it down on Facebook/their website like this.

In conclusion

Don't be indifferent and don't remain silent about poor-quality products., Whoever sells it to you – give feedback to the manufacturers so they can improve their products.
This way, you will save yourself, as well as many other breeders, disappointment from unsuccessful bumblebee breeding.

Thank you to all manufacturers and retailers who produce and sell products that serve a purpose, and who continually strive for innovation and improvement in response to the ever-worsening conditions in nature.
Thank you!
